The shade garden features plants that have adapted to low-light habitats. The plants often occur in the understory of dense forests. The old yew stand in the closing zone behind the plant family garden became denser and darker from year to year. In 2004, thinning was carried out here and the shade garden was established with various plants from the understory of forests and climbing plants.
On display are, among others:
- Ussuri mock vine (Ampelopsis glandulosa var. brevipedunculata)
- Common dragonwort (Dracunculus vulgaris)
- Various climbing roses
